Manchester United breaks the bank to buy Antony!

After several offers rejected by Ajax Amsterdam, Manchester United finally managed to get their hands on Antony. The Red Devils broke their piggy bank as they paid about 100 million euros.

Manchester United is under construction. And to lead the operations, the Red Devils have entrusted the chief hat to Erik ten Hag. After several years of good and loyal service at Ajax Amsterdam, the Dutch technician said yes to take up this huge challenge. But to help him in this mission, he announced that he needed reinforcements. Quickly, the Mancunian leaders agreed to his demands by putting 15 M€ to recruit Tyrell Malacia (Feyenoord) under the nose of the OL.

Ten Hag wanted to take the best elements of the Eredivisie with him. Thus, Lisandro Martinez, whom he managed at Ajax, also followed him in this new adventure. For him, MU signed a nice check of 57.4 M€. But the United knew that they would have to put even more on the table for Antony, priority of the English to strengthen the attack. So they offered €80m for the 22-year-old Brazilian. But the Lancers refused, as for all the following proposals that were higher. The player was very annoyed and spoke out in an interview with the journalist Fabrizio Romano.

MU broke its piggy bank

“Since February, my agents went to Amsterdam to inform Ajax about my desire to leave the club for a new challenge and that some interested clubs would arrive with certainly nice offers with them. In June I interrupted my vacation and personally came to inform the Ajax management, including the new coach, about my wish to leave and that they should consider this possibility because it was a two season project. I am not asking Ajax to release me, I am asking Ajax to sell me with the highest amount for an Eredivisie player”.

In the end, Antony won his case as Ajax agreed to sell him for about 100 M€. Manchester United has just made the news official. “Manchester United has reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Antony, subject to the medical examination, the finalization of the player’s contract and an international authorization”. For its part, the Dutch club confirmed the financial terms. “Ajax has accepted a transfer fee of 95 million euros. Including bonuses, the amount could rise to 100 million euros.” With this offensive recruit, Ten Hag will be able to continue his mission at MU. Antony, on the other hand, will discover the Premier League, and he will be under pressure because of the announced price.
